Increase Website Links
Gaining links to your website increases search engine positioning and increases website traffic - Reciprocal linking explained
It is important to get incoming links to your website to increase traffic and to perform well in search engines. However, the quality of the link is important as well as the quantity of links. Here are some tips for increasing your website links.
Get more incoming links for your website
Firstly, think about your link text (these are the words people see in their browser, usually underlined and clickable). Try and incorporate keywords within these that someone may use when searching for your site, don't just use your company mane, try and use a generic product for example.
The next stage is actually deciding who to approach:
- Quality is important, avoid link exchanges and link farms.
- Target sites which are relevant in subject matter to your site
- Target sites with similar demographics to you
- Get listed in relevant specialist industry directories
- Get listed in http://www.dmoz.org and http://www.yahoo.com
Some sites, including the directories, will have a facility or information about how to get a link listed on their site. It is recommended to read and follow the advice given. Remember getting the listing published is likely to take some time, be patient.
For other sites, with no published information on linking. Draw up a list of the sites you are going to target, compose and send an email to each of these websites, to save time use a template but change important information and try and personalise the email as much as possible, mention why you think a reciprocal link would be beneficial to both parties. Again be patient, but consider sending a follow up email a week later.
Admittedly, this can sometimes be a long process, but it should pay dividends. Don't go for the quick fix solution, or you may end up regretting it.
